About the Speaker
 

George K. Stookey, MSD, PhD

A native of Indiana, Dr. Stookey presently is a Distinguished Professor of Preventive Dentistry Emeritus.  He obtained his undergraduate and graduate education at Indiana University and has been a member of the faculty of the Indiana University School of Dentistry since 1964.  He has served as Director of the Oral Health Research Institute and as Acting Dean, Executive Associate Dean, and Associate Dean for Research of the I.U. School of Dentistry.  He retired from administrative responsibilities in 2001 to devote fulltime to research.  His career has been devoted to research on the use of fluoride and other measures for the prevention and control of dental caries and on the development of new technologies for the early detection of dental caries.  He has 252 published reports in scientific journals and has contributed to 23 dental text or reference books.
