The melting pot of America provides a wide variation in oral pigmentation which necessitates the capability to produce custom denture base characterization. Modern materials and methods have simplified this task. (Figure 9, 10):

Techniques are described herein for contouring, texturing, selecting soft tissue shades, recording shades for transmittal to the dental laboratory, custom denture tinting, placing identification in dentures and sealing these modifications on the denture surface using photocured, clear resin coatings. Shade modifications of new or existing dentures can also be accomplished quickly and easily in the dental office using the techniques described.
