Introduction

Hypersensitivity after tooth preparation and after definitive prosthesis cementation is a common problem for all practitioners. It can occur even if meticulous care is taken throughout the process from tooth preparation to final placement of the crown or fixed partial denture. However, much of the hypersensitivity experienced is preventable if certain steps are followed, and an appropriate diagnosis is made before tooth preparation begins.
