Steps 16-19

Step 16:  Mount the master cast on the articulator and remove the framework. (Fig. 6)  The impression tray(s), impression material, and wax block(s) are separated from the framework and discarded.  New blocks of wax are placed on the edentulous area(s) of the framework.

Step 17:  Position the artificial teeth. If esthetics is not a factor, a wax try-in may not be necessary.

Step 18:  Process the acrylic and remount the completed RPD on the articulator to correct any changes in the occlusion that may have occurred.  A drop of autopolymerizing resin placed under the most distal extension of the framework in the edentulous area(s) will act as a tissue stop during processing of the acrylic. (Fig. 7)

Step 19: Place the RPD in the patient's mouth, verify that the peripheral borders are not overextended, and make any occlusal adjustments that are necessary.
