Download Instructions

How do I download the image?
Once you've selected an image, you'll find a "Download single image for 35mm slide" or "Download single PowerPoint screen" link underneath the image.  When you click that link, a window will appear prompting you to download this file to your computer.  Select yes.  Another window will appear prompting you to select a directory in which to download this file.  Select or create a directory on your computer (it is recommended that you create a directory just for these files).  When a directory has been selected, the file will automatically begin downloading.  (Please note: "right" clicking on the image only saves a larger version of the thumbnail, not the file required for creating a slide.)

What type of file will I be downloading?
The file you will be downloading is a self-extracting, compressed "jpg file."

How do I extract the downloaded file?
Once you've downloaded the *.jpg file, go to the directory where you've downloaded it and double click on it.  A "self-extractor" window will appear prompting you where to extract the file.  The default directory is windows\temp.  Type in a directory where you would like to extract the "jpg or ppt file."  It can be the same directory where the *.jpg file is located.  Then click the "unexe" button.  A "jpg or ppt file" (i.e., sfti1.jpg, intro.ppt) will now appear in the targeted directory.

How do I create a slide from this image?
You will need to take the file to a local slide processing center that can work with digital files. It is a good idea to call the processing center before you go to find out their specific requirements for accepting files, i.e., can they accept files on exeDisks®, or a SyQuest® cartridge, etc.

What does the slide processing center need to produce the slide?
You must copy the file onto a removable media (i.e., floppy disk, exeDisk® or SyQuest® cartridge, etc.). Be sure to label your disk with the file name and file type (i.e. 01ergo.pct).  For 35mm slide output, inform the processing center to set the "slide background fill" to black.   This will avoid having white areas appear around your slide images.

If your school has a Media Department, how can you forward the slides electronically?
If you are not sure how to forward the slides electronically to your school's Media Department, please contact the manager for details.

How do I activate the JPEG filter in Windows '95?
Some users with Microsoft Office 95 may have difficulty viewing the JPEG files in a presentation or importing the JPEG files into a presentation.  If you find this to be the case, insert your Microsoft Office 95 CD-ROM into the CD drive and follow these steps:

  1. Place your Microsoft Office 95 CD into your CD drive.  It should start automatically.  If it does not, go to the Start menu and select Run.  Type d:\setup where "d" is the letter of your CD drive.
  2. When a menu appears, select Install Microsoft Office.
  3. In the next dialogue box, select Add/Remove.  You should see a window showing all MS Office options with checkmarks next to those that are installed on your system.
  4. Select Converters, Filters, and Data Access and click on Change Option.
  5. Select Graphics Filters and click on Change Option.
  6. Select JPEG File Interchange Format Import.
  7. Click OK.  This will begin the set-up function to update your selections.
When you've successfully completed the above steps, you should be able to successfully use the JPEG files in your PowerPoint presentations.

How do I view the on-screen slideshow in PowerPoint®?
From the menu bar, select View, then Slideshow..., then Manual.  The first slide will appear.  Click the arrow to advance through the remainder of the presentation.
