This program was developed for educators in the state of Maryland but materials may be used for educators across the United States
Through this collaboration between The COHI and dentalcare.com, teachers can retrieve oral health education lessons, materials, programs and videos for primary and secondary education. All of these tools can easily be incorporated into routine classroom instruction. School districts can go into this repository and find oral health education materials to incorporate into lessons in mathematics, spelling, science, technology, music lessons and more. Teachers can access and download information from The COHI, the Maryland Office of Oral Health, and dentalcare.com. The repository will help to ensure that oral health education instruction is being taught in primary and secondary schools in the state of Maryland and throughout the country.
These materials and resources are in line with academic standards. The learning goals foster the type of critical thinking consistent with these standards. The oral health education material found in The COHI K‑12 Educators’ Repository can help to facilitate oral hygiene understanding and abilities students should possess at critical points in their education.
The COHI and dentalcare.com are excited to join with educators in bringing oral health education into the classroom with meaningful verve. The enthusiasm and willingness of teachers to help elevate the lives of children, their families and communities through the incorporation of these oral health lessons is of major importance. This collaboration speaks to the 2000 Surgeon General’s Report1 and addresses the National Call to Action to Promote Oral Health.2 We look forward to working with you and trust in the commitment of this partnership to provide only the best of outcomes for primary and secondary school students.
