Overview

The American Academy of Periodontology research has clarified its paradigm for the role dentistry must play in the Oral-Systemic Link. It is now well understood that oral health and general health are not to be interpreted as separate entities, and that general health cannot be fully attained without addressing oral health.

Despite the abundant evidence of the life-threatening risks associated with oral inflammation, little has changed when it comes to protocols and paradigms in oral inflammation management procedures over the last 70 years. As the dental community accumulates momentum in discussing the oral-systemic link, it will take critical pioneering to implement new, innovative, and evidence-based practices designed to educate and empower the community to improve their oral health.

Join Katrina M. Sanders in this compelling, thought-provoking program discussing, from head to toe, the systematic approach to addressing the critical roles of bacterial invasion, systemic inflammation, and overt diseases of the periodontium in systemic health.
