Paul A. Sagel, BSChE

Paul A Sagel

Mr. Sagel is an appointed Research Fellow at the Procter & Gamble Company Health Care Research Center in Cincinnati, Ohio USA. He received his degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati where he graduated Suma Cum Laude and earned the Chemical Engineering Herrman Schneider Medal. Mr. Sagel began his career with The Drackett Company where he developed toiletry products, air fresheners, and hard surface cleaning products and earned the Presidents Award for his innovations. In 1993, he joined Procter & Gamble where his initial years were spent developing chewing gum technology, chemical technologies for dentifrice, packaging and clinical imaging methods. In 1996, Mr. Sagel began working on tooth whitening and invented Crest Whitestrips in early 1997. He was awarded the John G. Smale Innovation Award in 2000 and the Gordon E. Moore Medal in 2007 for his accomplishments. Mr. Sagel is featured in leading journals and leadership books as a breakthrough product innovator. He has over 30 peer-reviewed publications and global presentations on his research in tooth whitening, oral hygiene products, and imaging methods. He currently holds over 40 patents with others pending.
