Lifestyle Modification

Adoption of healthy lifestyles is an indispensable part of the management of all patients with high BP.17 Individuals with Elevated BP are not candidates for drug therapy but should be firmly and unambiguously advised to practice health-promoting lifestyle modifications in order to reduce their risk of developing HTN in the future. Major lifestyle modifications shown to lower BP include weight loss, increased physical activity, a healthy diet, reduced sodium intake, increased potassium intake, and moderation of alcohol consumption.14,17,18
