Overview

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, unpredictable, and often disabling disease resulting from an immune attack on the central nervous system.  To facilitate patient-centered care for individuals diagnosed with MS, dental professionals must be aware of disease variations, common symptoms, and treatments to modify the course of disease and manage symptoms.  The following course will provide an overview of the disease, offer ways to recognize oral symptoms before an individual has been diagnosed, and present approaches for dental professionals to modify and adapt the provision of oral health care to meet the needs of patients diagnosed with MS.
