After an acceptable level of control of the disease or disorder has been achieved, gradual tapering of medication, frequency of use and/or potency should be initiated while the patient is carefully monitored at 2-3 week intervals. The goal is to achieve complete remission or minimize symptoms and, if possible, to discontinue therapy.
