The x-ray technology of today is a result of more than 120 years of evolution. It is important to know how this discovery began, but it is more important to understand the basic physical concepts behind this discovery. To understand how x-rays are produced, dental professionals should have a clear understanding of atomic structure, ionizing radiation and the properties of x-rays.
