Cardiovascular agents represent the highest volume in the top 300 prescription drugs dispensed by U.S. community pharmacies.2 Predicated on the mechanisms of action of these drugs, the most common cardiovascular conditions encountered in ambulatory settings include hypertension (HTN); ischemic heart disease (IHD), i.e., chronic coronary artery disease (CAD) and acute coronary syndromes (ACS); cardiac arrhythmias; heart failure (HF); and thromboembolic complications.2-10,16
