Mario is a graduate of the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Lisbon and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree from the University of Washington. He has a master’s degree in health psychology from ISPA - University Institute. Currently, Mario is a PhD student at the University of Lisbon (Psychology School) conducting research in different Approaches to Oral Health Behavior Change He is also an International speaker in behavior modification and communication skills, having delivered numerous guest lectures in various countries of the world. Mario has worked as an Oral Health teacher since 1990 and is now an Adjunctive Professor in the dental hygiene program at Portalegre Health School. In addition to his education experience, Mario worked for the Portuguese Government as project manager in the Portuguese Oral Health Promotion Program. In 2013, he and his team were the recipients of the prestigious Sunstar World Dental Hygiene Award in Cape Town (SA) for the best oral health project. Mario lives in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal where he also worked as a clinical/behavioral dental hygienist. He has 4 kids, 1 wife, 4 cats.
