Localized Diffuse Gingivitis

Localized Gingivitis – Inflammation of a single tooth or a specific group of teeth.

Diffuse Gingivitis – Involves the interdental papilla(e), gingival margin(s), and attached gingiva.  Is usually localized; can be generalized (rarely).

  • Severe gingival inflammation of marginal and papillary areas
  • Erythema extending into the keratinized band of gingiva
  • Loss of stippling
