Firm and Resilient Gingiva

Firm and Resilient Gingiva

Consistency – The consistency of the gingiva varies on the degree of health, density, and firmness of the tissue.

Firm and Resilient Gingiva – Gingiva should be firm and resilient, not hard, and attached gingiva should be firmly bound down:

  • Attached gingiva is firmly bound to underlying bone
  • Unattached gingiva resilient under compression
  • Stippling may/may not be present
