Tanya Sue Maestas, DDS

Tanya Sue Maestas

Dr. Tanya Sue Maestas was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston in 2018, completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency in 2019, and went on to complete a Dental Public Health residency through A.T. Still University in 2023. During dental school, she became actively involved in organized dentistry, serving in various leadership roles, including President of the American Student Dental Association.


After graduation, she returned to El Paso and currently serves as Dental Director at Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, where she leads clinical operations and advances access to care for the tribal community. She is also a part-time faculty member at the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine, mentoring and educating future dentists.


Dr. Maestas has remained deeply engaged in organized dentistry at the local, state, and national levels through leadership roles within the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and Hispanic Dental Association. She is an alumna of the American Dental Association Institute for Diversity in Leadership and has been recognized as Texas New Dentist of the Year, an ADA “10 Under 10” honoree, and an Incisal Edge “40 Under 40” recipient.


She is passionate about expanding access to care, addressing health disparities, and advancing diversity and inclusion within the profession. Through clinical leadership, education, and advocacy, she strives to help shape a more equitable and innovative future for oral health.
