The rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria is a growing concern, with new strains emerging that are increasingly difficult to treat. As antibiotic use increases, their effectiveness diminishes. In the field of dentistry, nearly 10% of all outpatient antibiotics are prescribed, with an estimated 80% of these prescriptions deemed unnecessary according to current guidelines. As dental professionals, it is crucial to stay informed about the latest prescribing guidelines and actively participate in antibiotic stewardship. In this engaging presentation, attendees will gain insights into the current state of antibiotics, learn about appropriate usage, and explore non-antibiotic alternatives for patient treatment.

In recent years, the use of dental implants for tooth replacement is becoming a common practice and, subsequently, peri-implant diseases are more frequently evident. This course focuses on causes and risk factors for peri-implant diseases, ways to prevent its occurrence as well as the currently available treatment options for peri-implantitis.

This course will examine the concepts of staging and grading to classify each patient by complexity of case management, likelihood of less predictable response to therapy, and potential for periodontitis development.
