Pain Management

Aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) should be avoided due to effect on platelet function. Acetaminophen can be used safely for pain control.⁵³ In some cases, opioids may be the only option for pain relief. Post operative pain management should be meticulously planned and coordinated between the dentist, patient, and hematologist prior to the dental procedure.
